White's Sharp Lil Aussies is located near the Gulf coast of central Florida. Our home is within a community of "mini farms". We have a small farm where we raise the Miniature and Standard Australian Shepherds. We also raise a few goats, have chickens/geese and a horse. I started breeding the Miniature Australian Shepherds in 1999, striving to produce the look, temperament, intelligence, and athletic abilities of the Standard Australian Shepherd in a smaller size dog.
I started breeding the Standard Australian Shepherds in 2003. My Australian Shepherds are registered with either the American Stock Dog Registry (ASDR) or the American Kennel Club (AKC). All puppies or dogs are sold with limited registration unless purchased. Breeding right cost $1000 on top of the cost of the puppy or dog.
I believe that by keeping the dogs that I breed as healthy as possible, it will help to raise healthy puppies. My dogs are all vaccinated appropriately, they are on heartworm , flea and tick preventative, and are fed a premium diet. I do genetic testing to avoid health issues that are known to the breed. I have the hips, elbows, and eyes tested on my breeding stock. I raise my puppies indoors where they are under my careful eye and they get lots of attention. My kids are now grown but have blessed me with five grandchildren. The grandchildren live close enough that they are able to visit frequently and play with the puppies. Both the kids and the puppies have a ball with playing together.
I believe in maintaining the breed standard of the Australian Shepherd which includes having the tails docked (if not born with a natural bob) and the dew claws removed. This is done when the puppies are 3-4 days old. I keep the puppies on a strict deworming schedule starting when the puppies are two weeks old. When the puppies are eight weeks old, they go to the vet for a complete health exam, their first set of vaccines, their stools checked, dewormed, and they get a Florida State Health Certificate. I also start them on heartworm and flea prevention before leaving for their new homes.
I believe that the short and long term health of any animal will depend on what that animal eats. I found that Life's Abundance is among the best dog foods on the market and very competitive price. I became an independent field Representative for Life's Abundance to promote their products and share a great company with my customers. My puppies and adult dogs are all raised on the Life's Abundance All Stage Puppy/Dog food. It is a high quality dog food without some of the high allergen ingredients such as corn and wheat. I also supplement with NuVet Vitamins and have used these vitamins since I got my first dog in 1983. These vitamins provide benefits though out the life of my dogs.
